V SHIPS Closing Ceremony With EES & SIES

The V Ships Closing Program, conducted in partnership with Adopt-a-Ship International, Estrella Elementary School (EES), and San Isidro Elementary School (SIES), was a memorable and impactful event that strengthened maritime awareness and inspired young learners to dream big.

EES Closing Ceremony

The program at Estrella Elementary School began with the Opening Remarks delivered by Mr. Adrian Bañega, Master Teacher, on behalf of the school head, Dr. Angelito A. Espedido. In his message, he encouraged the pupils to “enjoy the moment and be thankful for the opportunity,” reminding them to embrace every learning experience with gratitude.

Deck Cadet Charles Vincent M. Dinopol delivered an inspiring message, sharing his journey onboard and the privilege of traveling the world. He emphasized that learning is a lifelong process and that sipag at tiyaga were his foundation in pursuing his dreams. He expressed his hope that maritime courses would become one of the learners’ future career choices.

1AE Marlon Glenn Carlo Glarino, V Ships Training Superintendent, motivated the students to consider taking a seafaring course that could lead to better opportunities in life. He also engaged them in an interactive Q&A session on maritime topics and geography.

A special message was then given by Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, who highlighted the importance of teamwork, a value he consistently promotes. He encouraged the students to stay happy, be curious, and continue learning new things every day.

Chief Officer Jeffrey Aldas expressed his gratitude to all participants and supporters of the AASI initiative. The Closing Remarks were delivered by Mr. Romel Peralta, MT I, who acknowledged V Ships, AAS, and the IMO for the success of the program, expressing hope for continued partnership. One of the highlights was the awarding of the Young Mariners Award to two deserving Grade 6 pupils—a proud moment for the school and the community.

SIES Closing Ceremony

At San Isidro Elementary School, the program opened with a message from Ms. Gemmalyn V. Mojeco, OIC/Teacher III, who expressed the school’s gratitude for being part of the Adopt-a-Ship Program and for the life-enriching opportunities it brings to their learners.

Deck Cadet Charles Vincent Dinopol once again inspired the students with his story, encouraging them to dream of becoming seafarers in the future.

1AE Marlon Glenn Carlo Glarino continued the session with an engaging and interactive discussion, capturing the interest of students and teachers alike.

In his special message, Sir George Hoyt highlighted the rapid changes in the global shipping industry and recognized V Ships as one of the world’s leading companies. He encouraged the students to always help one another and practice kindness in all their interactions.

Chief Officer Jeffrey Aldas energized the participants with a lively “HEP! HEP! HOORAY!” game joined by students, teachers, and even Sir George himself. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the program.

The Closing Remarks were delivered by Ms. Liza F. Fababeir, MT II, who conveyed the school’s appreciation to V Ships and Adopt-a-Ship International. She shared that the program serves as a gateway to nurturing young minds and opening doors to meaningful aspirations.

The V Ships Closing Program at both schools proved to be a meaningful celebration of partnership, learning, and hope. Through shared stories, words of encouragement, and inspiring interactions, the students were reminded that their dreams—no matter how big—are within reach when guided by perseverance, teamwork, and a grateful heart. As the program concluded, it reaffirmed the commitment of V Ships, Adopt-a-Ship International, and participating schools to continue shaping the next generation of global learners and future maritime professionals.
