On September 17, 2024, Southville 3A Elementary School (SV3AES) proudly launched the Adopt a Ship program, becoming the first of three San Pedro schools to implement this initiative in partnership with Anglo-Eastern. The event was graced by Anglo-Eastern delegates led by Director Capt. Neeraj K. Dhingra, President C/E Jessie Rex P. Martin, Capt. Rex Hingpit, C/E Rizalito Sotto, Atty. Kim Cabuhat, and Ms. Dia Cernol. They were joined by Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Rainiel Crisologo, the AASI Team, and the SV3AES community led by School Head Mrs. Emelinda Amil. In her welcome address, Mrs. Amil expressed heartfelt gratitude for selecting SV3AES as a host school and highlighted the program’s transformative potential in introducing students to maritime education. Dr. Crisologo reinforced this message, underscoring the program’s positive impact and encouraging students to explore careers in the maritime field. The launch featured a lively dance performance by SV3AES students, followed by motivational messages from Capt. Dhingra and C/E Martin, who shared insights into the vast opportunities within the maritime industry and how the program equips students with essential knowledge about global shipping operations. C/O Jeffrey Aldas presented an overview of the program’s objectives and implementation process, while students engaged enthusiastically in a Q&A session and a fun paper boat-making activity. To enrich classroom learning, teachers were also provided with large 2x3-meter world maps, enabling students to track their adopted ship’s movements and strengthen their knowledge of geography and trade routes. The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Celso Galleto, who expressed optimism for the program’s success at SV3AES. A group photo captured the spirit of collaboration, excitement, and commitment to shaping brighter futures through maritime awareness and education.
