BSM Shipmanagement Closing Ceremony With CVES

Date: October 13, 2025

The Closing Ceremony of the Adopt-a-Ship Program in partnership with BSM Shipmanagement and Chrysanthemum Village Elementary School was a meaningful and inspiring event that celebrated learning, collaboration, and the bright dreams of young students.

The program began with the Opening Remarks of Ms. Ayline M. Sauce, School Head of CVES, who extended her heartfelt gratitude for the continued support of the program. According to her, the ceremony does not mark an end but a new beginning of a stronger partnership.

This was followed by an Inspirational Message from Capt. Jonathan Abasola, Acting Recruitment Manager of BSM. He expressed his deep appreciation for the warm welcome of CVES and encouraged the learners by sharing his own journey from poverty—a reminder that hardship should never be a barrier to achieving one’s dreams. He urged the students to study well, persevere, and aim high, hoping to see them become chief officers someday.

Ma’am Rose Agudo also delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing how blessed everyone is to be part of the program. She expressed gratitude to Sir George Hoyt for his love for the Philippines and his commitment to bringing the program to many schools, and to Sir Jeffrey Aldas for his dedication in implementing it.

Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, conveyed his appreciation to the principal and to BSM for their unwavering support. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, sharing that his own friendships have lasted for 70 years because of respect and love. He also stressed the vital role of the shipping industry in sustaining the daily needs of people around the world, noting that without seafarers, half of the world could suffer and operations could freeze. One of the highlights of his message was his hope that the partnership—with BSM and OSM—continues to help students dream big.

A Thank-You Message was delivered by C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas, followed by the Closing Remarks of Ms. Cyrene B. Narvaja, marking the formal conclusion of the ceremony.

The event also featured the giving of Certificates of Appreciation to the school partners and key supporters of the program. This was followed by a photo opportunity, capturing the smiles and gratitude of everyone involved

The ceremony ended with a hopeful and celebratory atmosphere, acknowledging the success of the program and the strong partnership that continues to inspire the next generation of maritime leaders.
