ASP Crew Management Services, together with BSES, held a meaningful and inspiring Closing Program that celebrated learning, growth, and maritime awareness under the Adopt-a-Ship partnership.
Mrs. Sheila Banasta warmly welcomed everyone and emphasized that their partnership goes beyond simply “adopting a ship”—it is about giving students the opportunity to understand the world of seafaring more deeply. Her message set a warm and encouraging tone for the event.
Mr. Aldrin Bernardino, IT System Engineer, delivered an inspirational message, sharing how he discovered opportunities in the seafaring path even without a maritime degree. His story reminded students that determination and passion can open doors to maritime careers in various ways.
Selected Grade 5 students then presented a lively intermission number, adding color and energy to the program.
2/O Ronald Louise Asis, Crewing Assistant Manager, inspired the learners by asking, “Do you think you are amazing?” He encouraged them to believe in their abilities and replace “I can’t” with “I’ll try,” emphasizing that it is better to fail because you tried than to fail without trying at all. He reminded them to believe in themselves, be kind, be brave, and remember that the sea needs them—whoever they are.
Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, expressed his gratitude to all participants, especially the students. He shared a story of friendships lasting 70 years to highlight the value of supporting one another. He also engaged the students in a math game, relating it to the importance of mathematics in seafaring.
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas told the students that they are the heart of the program, extending his heartfelt gratitude to all who took part in the activities. A Q&A session followed, focusing on geography and maritime topics, allowing the students to apply what they learned.
The awarding ceremonies then took place, recognizing winners of the Poster and Galleon Making Contest, as well as the recipients of the Young Mariners Award. Certificates were also presented to the partner company, teachers, and participants, along with the giving of tokens of appreciation.
A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of the AASI Industry Partner Award 2025, shared with ASP Crew Management Services and the school community—symbolizing strong collaboration and shared success.
To close the program, Mrs. Monalisa Binalla expressed her heartfelt gratitude and congratulated everyone who contributed to the success of the Adopt-a-Ship activities.
The event concluded with renewed inspiration, pride, and hope for the young learners who may one day become part of the maritime world.
