On September 17, 2024, Southville 3A Elementary School officially launched the Adopt a Ship program, becoming the first of three San Pedro schools to implement this initiative in partnership with Anglo-Eastern. The event was graced by Anglo-Eastern delegates led by Director Capt. Neeraj K. Dhingra, President C/E Jessie Rex P. Martin, Capt. Rex Hingpit, C/E Rizalito Sotto, Atty. Kim Cabuhat, and Ms. Dia Cernol. Joining them were Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Rainiel Crisologo, the AASI Team, and the SV3AES community, led by School Head Mrs. Emelinda Amil. Mrs. Amil warmly welcomed the guests, expressing gratitude for selecting SV3AES to host the program. She emphasized the program’s potential to transform students’ learning by introducing them to maritime education. Dr. Crisologo echoed this sentiment, highlighting the program’s positive impact and encouraging students to leverage this opportunity to explore maritime career paths. The event featured an energetic dance performance by SV3AES students, followed by inspiring messages from Capt. Neeraj Dhingra and C/E Jessie Rex Martin, who discussed the vast opportunities within the maritime industry and the program’s role in equipping students with valuable knowledge about shipping operations. C/O Jeffrey Aldas presented an overview of the program’s implementation and objectives, while students actively participated in a Q&A session and a fun paper boat-making activity. To further enhance learning experience, teachers were provided with a 2x3-meter world map to help students track their adopted ship's movements and enhance knowledge of geography. The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Celso Galleto, who expressed optimism about the program’s successful run at SV3AES. A group photo captured the spirit of collaboration and the commitment to enriching students’ learning experiences through maritime education.
