RCES Launching Ceremony with Filstar Maritime

On September 27, 2024, Rosario Complex Elementary School proudly launched the Adopt a Ship program in partnership with Filstar Maritime Corporation. The event was attended by delegates from Filstar Maritime, led by General Manager Capt. Genesis Pabilario, Ms. Daisy Salamat, and two aspiring cadets, alongside the AASI Team and the RCES community, headed by School Head Mrs. Emlyn Gazzingan. Mrs. Gazzingan began with a heartfelt message, warmly welcoming the guests and expressing deep gratitude for bringing the AAS program back to RCES. She highlighted the school’s pride in being one of the pioneer schools to adopt the program in San Pedro, emphasizing how their active participation had unlocked numerous opportunities for their students and community. Her remarks set an uplifting tone for the event, which was further energized by dynamic dance performances by selected students, showcasing their enthusiasm and school spirit. Capt. Pabilario talked about the critical role of the shipping industry in global trade, encouraging students to consider maritime careers. Adding to the inspiration were personal stories from D/C Dagohoy and D/C Loyola, who recounted their journeys toward becoming seafarers, motivating students to explore opportunities in the maritime field. C/O Jeffrey Aldas introduced the program's objectives and outlined its implementation phases. To engage students, he facilitated interactive activities, which filled the venue with excitement and cheers. The presentation of 2x3-meter world maps to teachers came next, serving as tools for students to track the movements of their adopted ships, enhancing their understanding of global shipping routes while integrating geography lessons into the program. The event concluded with Ms. Angelique Hatulan expressing her gratitude to maritime partners for their support and collaboration. She shared her optimism for the program’s continued success at RCES, envisioning a bright future for the students inspired by this initiative. A group photo marked the culmination of the event, capturing the excitement, hope, and enthusiasm of all participants.
