On July 30, 2024, Internship-Hartmann, led by its President, Mr. Giovanni Tuapin, met with the AASI team headed by IMO Ambassador Mr. George Hoyt to discuss future plans for the Adopt a Ship program in collaboration with Hartmann Crew Philippines. Mr. Tuapin confirmed the continuation of their partnership with Langgam Elementary School in San Pedro, Laguna, marking HCP’s second participation in the upcoming phase of the program set to begin in August. To enhance students’ learning experiences, Mr. Tuapin introduced a simulator software designed to educate young learners about ship operations. This software can be easily downloaded and installed by teachers as an educational tool, and it operates on a standard computer using a mouse and keyboard as controllers. The simulator provides students with a 360-degree virtual view from a ship, complete with real audio, allowing them to steer and maneuver the vessel along a route while learning about the ship’s navigation system, display lights, and various operational practices. The introduction of this innovative teaching tool represents a significant advancement for the program. The meeting was highly productive, filled with exciting plans and innovations aimed at enriching students' learning experiences.
