Rain or shine, the spirit of maritime education thrives. The Adopt-A-Ship program was successfully relaunched at Magsaysay Elementary School – Marlow’s second partner school, reaffirming the school’s commitment to integrating global maritime awareness into the elementary classroom. Despite being a small school, MES led by School Head Mrs. Rusela Gumabay - welcomed the delegates with heartfelt energy and enthusiasm, proving that no space is too small and no voice is too quiet when hearts are filled with passion. Mrs. Gumabay opened the event with an uplifting message of support and hope, highlighting the importance of meaningful and transformative learning experiences such as Adopt-A-Ship. The program featured touching reflections from selected students and teachers, who shared how the initiative has sparked their curiosity and expanded their understanding of the maritime industry. Capt. Tenorio captivated the audience with stories from his seafaring journey, then engaged the students in an interactive Q&A session, rewarding correct answers with Marlow pouch bags - bringing joy and excitement to eager young minds. Ambassador Hoyt, with his trademark heart sign and warm smile, reminded everyone of the importance of teamwork, kindness, and generosity - values that lie at the heart of the AAS mission. C/O Aldas introduced the program’s core goals and officially welcomed the MES community aboard for another cycle of maritime discovery and global learning. The event was concluded by Mr. Alvin Flojo, who reflected on the impact of the program and its continued potential to inspire young learners. The event ended on a high note with the distribution of world maps, a key tool that will help students track the journeys of their adopted ships while reinforcing geography lessons in a fun and visual way. A group photo captured the spirit of unity, inspiration, and purpose - marking another proud milestone in MES’s journey toward transforming classrooms into windows to the maritime world.
