Langgam Elementary School, in partnership with Hartmann Crew Philippines, proudly launched the second run of the Adopt a Ship program on September 12, 2024. The event was attended by HCP delegates led by President Mr. Giovanni Tuapin, alongside Capt. Jose Catapang, Mr. RJ Navarro, and Ms. Rebekka Hilbrands. They were joined by the AASI team, headed by C/O Jeffrey Aldas, and the LES community, led by School Head Mrs. Shella Perez. Ms. Vangie Santos warmly welcomed the guests, expressing excitement for the program’s return to LES. Capt. Catapang shared his inspiring journey as a seafarer, reflecting on how crafting paper boats as a child ignited his maritime dreams, while highlighting the rewarding opportunities in the seafaring profession. Mr. Tuapin reaffirmed HCP's commitment to supporting students aspiring to maritime careers, emphasizing education as a gateway to better opportunities. Mrs. Perez underscored the program’s potential to provide students with meaningful insights into the shipping industry, inspiring them to consider careers in the maritime field. C/O Aldas offered an overview of the program’s implementation phases, and lively games with prizes from HCP added excitement to the event. To further enhance the learning experience, students received 2x3-meter world maps to track their adopted ship’s movements and deepen their understanding of global shipping routes. This 10-week program promises to broaden students' knowledge of the maritime industry and spark interest in maritime careers. The launch concluded with a photo session, symbolizing the beginning of a fruitful partnership dedicated to advancing maritime education for the students of San Pedro.
