On September 10, 2024, the launching of AAS program was held at Bagong Silang Elementary School in partnership with Western Shipping led by its President, Capt. Joseph Raluta and QMR, Mr. Barney Vega. The BSES community, led by Mrs. Jesusa Juliano, warmly welcomed the delegates from AASI and their partner company. In her opening message, she highlighted the significance of the shipping industry and its role in providing students with additional career options to consider as they prepare for college. The event also featured an enthusiastic cultural dance presentation performed by selected students. Capt. Raluta emphasized the pivotal role of education in building a promising future and highlighted the opportunities the maritime industry offers as a potential career path for students. Meanwhile, C/O Jeffrey Aldas, Managing Coordinator of AASI, presented an introduction and overview of the program’s implementation phases, underscoring the essential role of shipping in everyday life. A lively Q&A session followed, allowing students to ask questions about the shipping industry. Teachers received 2x3-meter world maps as part of the program, enabling students to track their adopted ship's movements while enhancing their knowledge of global shipping routes and geography lessons. Ms. Shella Banasta concluded the program by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the special guests and sharing her optimistic outlook for the program’s success at BSES. The day wrapped up with a photo opportunity, capturing the excitement and potential of this meaningful educational collaboration. The event ended on a positive and hopeful note, brimming with enthusiasm for the students' journey with the Adopt a Ship program.
